Winter Park Mountain Info


Winter Park Resort is located 67 miles (108 kms) northwest of Denver and 85 miles (137 kms) from Denver International Airport. Set in the Vasquez Mountains of the Arapaho National Forest, Winter Park is the closest major ski resort to Denver (1.5 hrs driving time) via Interstate 70 west to exit 232 on U.S Hwy 40.


 

Winter Park Resort consists of four adjacent areas - Winter Park, Mary Jane (including Parsenn Bowl), Vasquez Cirque and Vasquez Ridge. A network of trails and chairlifts connects the distinct mountains.  Winter Park Resort is the oldest continually operated resort in Colorado.

Terrain Parks

There are five levels of terrain parks to choose from starting with:

Starter Park - located below Snoasis which is great for those starting out with small rails

Dog Patch East - is the newest addition to the free ride terrain just east of the original Dog Patch and offers a variety of non traditional features for skiers and boarders

Dog Patch - located on the east side of Eskimo Express great for intermediate abilities

Dark Territory - New in 2006/2007 season Rail Yards limited access area continues to develop with more unique features

Rail Yard - Winter Parks advanced terrain has been ranked with Transworld Magazine as having the Best Park (tied 4th), Best Overall Resort (8) and Best Pipe (10)



Free Guided Mountain Tours

Twice daily tours are a great way to see the mountain and find the local's favourite or secret stashes.  All participants must be an intermediate or better skier or rider. Lit ticket is required.



On Mountain Dining

Moffat Market at West Portal Station: With its railroad theme this large food court serves regional specialties.

The Derailer Bar: At 2.00pm when you hear the train whistle its aprs ski time at the Derailer Bar. This two tiered drink and entertainment centre features a full service lunch menu or full pub style food and a variety of drinks specials.

Mary Jane Center: Located at the base of Mary Jane and home to the newly renovated Club Car a local favourite offering full service bistro " style dining and bar, Pepperonis Pizza & Sports Bar and Mary Jane Food & Drink food court.

The Lodge at Sunspot: This two mile high mountaintop lodge features panoramic views of the Continental Divide and the Rocky Mountains. The Dining room has a full service restaurant featuring Colorado inspired fare with a daily chefs selections. The Provisioner offers an upscale food court.

Snoasis Market:Located mid mountain is a blast to the past with its music, colours, deck space and the resorts best place to sit and relax.

Lunch Rock:This mountaintop spot specializes in casual food, bbqs, deck dining and incredible views of Parry Peak.

Vasquez Ridge " Sundance Cafe: Situated in a mountaintop location this is a great warming hut and serves chili and authentic Colorado recipes.
