On The Mountain

Spread over a gigantic ski area with everything from wide-open, gentle learning slopes to steep, powder-filled tree stashes. It is a perfect mountain for anyone learning to ski powder or trees.Time Square is the mountain village area where you will gain access to the slopes and is also where a lot of the on mountain accommodation is found.

Beginners/First Timers New upgrades in 2007 has seen the base area of Headwalll open up learning terrain, that separates those starting out from other traffic and allows novices to totally concentrate on the fun. Those starting out for the first time will find that most of the green runs are cat tracks that are found above the base area.

Intermediate skiers and boarders should head to what the locals refer to as Wally World these are the blue cruisey runs found between Sunshine and Sundown Express lifts.Another area to explore is off Pioneer Ridge - Longhorn run from here you will have excellent views of the Yampa Valley and the option to ski and ride in between the lodge pole pines. If you are wanting something a little more challenging try Westside,a black trail below Rendezvous Saddle, is steep but usually well groomed.

If trees and bumps in trees are more your style for Experts head to Mt Werner. Off Sundown Express Chair you will find some great runs amongst the Aspens where the trees seem to hold lovely pockets of snow in well thinned out trees.
