Jackson Hole

"Don't be put off by this world renowned steep and deep resort, there is a whole lot more to explore in this wonderful paradise. My own adventures led me to snowmobiling trips across Yellowstone, line dancing (which I am not very good at) and epic powder days cat - skiing at Grand Targhee. I met real cowboys & locals, chatted on chair lifts to extreme skiing movie makers (Teton Gravity Research) and experienced a whole new level of riding in this unique American resort."

Resort

Located at the southern entrance to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole Mountain has been a winter destination for over 40 years.

When choosing to ski Jackson Hole Mountain which averages 450 inches of snow a year you have two options. The town "Jackson Hole" which is an Old Western town is about 15 - 20 minutes by taxi from the airport or "Teton Village" which is on mountain accommodation and about 30 minutes via taxi from the airport.

Suprisingly even though this is an advanced skiier/boarders paradise with 3,000 acres of backcountry skiing half of the resort's 2,500 skiable acres is rated blue and green runs, much of which is groomed nightly.

The "Big Red" tram opened in December 2008 and travels 4,139 vertical feet from the base of the mountain to the top of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in just 9 minutes, carrying 100 people per car. This allows you 360 degrees views and access to some of the most challenging terrain such as "Corbet's Couloir".

This area is not just limited to those on skis and boards to enjoy there are other means to explore the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks by snowshoe, dog sledding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and even in a snow cat. As this area is a wildlife corridor and also home to an Elk refuge there are plenty of photo opportunities to capture these once in a lifetime moments.

Not to be missed are the great day trips to explore some of the best cat - skiing i have ever done in this area at Grand Targhee Resort a must on your list of things to do!!

If you're looking to lap powder runs on epic terrain this winter, Jackson is most definitely the place to be
