On The Mountain
Beginners" An isolated area above the gondola allows for about 15 acres of designated learning area away from distractions. The ride on the gondola offers fabulous views.
Intermediate Levels- There is an intermediate skier/boarders paradise at Heavenly, especially on the Nevada side of the mountain. Tamarack, Dipper and Comet Express chairs allow you to get to the Californian side. Off the Dipper Express take Dippers or Orions Wave run for a cruisey run down. The Californian side has some lovely long runs off the Sky Express with runs like Lizs, Canyon and High Roller.
Advanced/Experts-MottCanyon is the place to go; there are designated gates to enter with some great options to take such as Hully Gully and Pinenuts. KillebrewCanyon offers the most challenging chutes so be forewarned when tackling these.
Ski and Board School
Heavenly Ski and Board school provide a range of lessons for children to adults with the choice of 3 day packages for beginners, group lessons, private, womens clinics and adaptive programmes.
The Ski/Play Programme (3-4years) combines an hours ski lesson with fun games throughout the day. The next stages Half and Half Programme (4-5years) offers a 2 hour lesson in the morning and playtime in the afternoon.
Nanny for a Day gives peace of mind to parents where one caregiver will be assigned to your child. Daycare Programmes can get booked out so it is recommended to book in advance.
The Village
Divided by the state line makes South Lake Tahoe a unique mix with casinos and Vegas nightlife on one side, and a tranquil laid back feel on the California side.
Attractions and Activities
Not only is there lots of gambling and shows to watch, but the HeavenlyAdventurePark at the top of the gondola also offers a range of activities from snow tubing, snow biking, sledding and snowshoeing. Thrill seekers will delight taking part on the Heavenly Flyer which is a huge cable and harness system that allows you to travel from the Tamarack Express Chair Deckto the top of the gondola at 50mph.
Shopping
The Heavenly Shopping Centre is based around the Marriot with a small collection of shops, restaurants, sports shops and galleries. An area called the Y where the intersection of Highway 89 and Highway 50 meet has a selection of factory outlet stores.
Dining
Fire & Ice in the Marriott Timber Lodge offers a fun evening of dining where you choose the ingredients while a chef prepares it. At the top of Harrahs Hotel with stunning views are Fridays Station and The Summit, which has been voted as one of the top 10 restaurants in America. There is a diverse range of dining options to choose from with the casino hotels offering their great value options of all you can eat buffets.
Nightlife
Fire and Ice has open fire pits to enjoy the aprs scene with Blue Moon in front of the Tahoe Beach and Ski Club also offering a great aprs scene straight off the slopes. Just across the road is McPs offering live music seven nights a week. A good Irish pub is Mulligans with great music, pool tables and giant TV screens.
Later in the evening Blu in the Mont Bleu Resort Casino and Spa comes to life with a live DJ. Another Irish Pub is The Pub at Tahoe,which is packed most nights with live music and pool tables on the first floor. The casinos have always got a range of shows on offer, including singers and comedians so watch for who may be in town on your visit to Tahoe.
