Crested Butte Village Info

On The Mountain

Beginners will be happy to know that almost the entire face of the butte is just for them. Jump on the Red Lady Express Lift and take your pick between Poverty Gulch, Roller Coaster (not as scary as you might think), and Mineral Point.

For a nice long run, intermediates should take the Silver Queen Express Lift and cruise down Keystone and then Upper Park.

Advanced/Experts will have so many double black diamonds to choose from, they wont know what to do with themselves. Start by making your way to the High Lift and then head on over (by way of The Big Chute of course) to the North Face Lift where you can spend your day on the Sock-It-To-Me Ridge, the Staircase, and the Lower Third Bowl

Ski and Board School

Crested Butte has skilled and accomplished instructors who will combine fun teaching techniques with play on the mountain to ensure everyone goes home happy (and improved!). They offer private lessons for first-timers, and those just wishing to hone their skills, skiing and snowboarding workshops, tele-mark and even ski racing workshops. Once youve checked off one, sign yourself up for another!

The Village

Set at the foot of the slopes and full of accommodations, a great couple of restaurants and bars, a Mini Club Med (for kids 4 " 12 years), laundry facilities, and enough shopping to keep you happy, the village at Crested Butte wont disappoint.

Attractions and Activities

Choose from dogsled tours (something Ive personally always wanted to try), hiking and backpacking, historical walking tours of Cresetd Butte, snowcat powder skiing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and the Black Canyon Gunnison National Monument.

Shopping

Gunnison (the Crested Butte community) is a unique and magical town that provides a shopping experience unequalled anywhere. The shops along Elk Avenue and in the Mountain Village at the ski area offer the finest selections of quality merchandise: locally made clothing and crafts, the best in outdoor wear, and selections of hard to find gift items that you won't see anywhere else.

Dining

Experience what its like to eat in a building dating back to the late 1800s, or check out the local breweries on offer and treat yourself to the unique tastes of the area with great places to sit and rub elbows with locals. There are an abundance of restaurants featuring prime western meats, fresh fish and unique options for vegetarians. Choose from Mexican, Italian, Asian, Cafes, BBQ, seafood, sushi and a host of great pubs¦ Its been said that Crested Butte has more fine restaurants per capita than any other American town, so leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy them all!

Nightlife

Crested Butte nightlife is quite exciting. Just when you think the town is closing, it comes alive again! Gunnison simply reignites after hours, where pubs, clubs, and breweries are full great locals and plenty of mountain spirit.
