Tomamu

"...where else can you hire your own ski slope?"

Sarah Headifen - Ski Traveller

Resort

Averaging a snowfall of 8 metres and 25 km of terrain to explore Tomamu is one of the largest resorts in Japan, covering an area that is 203 times of the size of Tokyo Dome.

Tomamu is the most affluent resort in Hokkaido where no expense has been spared. The ski area is double the size of Sahoro and offers a good variety of terrain, the recently opened up expert courses and off piste skiiing are certainly a bonus for the advanced skier and snowboarder. For those in search of off piste there is plenty of powder, there is a system in place where you register and sign a waiver, and are given a yellow bib to wear and you are free to go and play in all the powder you like.

Apres ski activities include; snowmobiling, backcountry tours, cross country skiing, para-skiing, dogsledding, hot air ballooning and visiting the ice dome village.

So whether it is cruising on groomed slopes, making fresh tracks or having fun in the indoor wave pool Tomamu seems to offer something for all to enjoy!
