Hakuba Mountain Info
Situated in the heart of the Japanese Alps, Happo One is located in the northwestern corner of Nagano Prefecture, (not far northwest of Tokyo).
Trail Maps and more...Happo One: View Trail Map View Web Cam View Snow Conditions The main beginner trails are on the lower section of the mountain. It is possible for beginners to ski or snowboard down from the top of the Adam Gondola, turn left to the Panorama trail for gentle linked winding trails leading all the way down to the Saka Area. If you still have plenty of energy after this long run the Saka Area has a number of smaller lifts to play on. For intermediates looking for fresh powder the terrain around the Sky Line trail offers some good challenging skiing and snowboarding especially following the chairlift line back down. The fastest way to access this is from the Saka Area. For a really long run catch the Adam Gondola to the top then take Reisen Slalom trail all the way back to the base of the gondola, the mid section has some advanced terrain to negotiate but nothing that should trouble a confident intermediate. Advanced/Experts: The upper areas of Happo One consist of wide open powder fields of varying difficulty. From here descents such as the Kurobishi Olympic Downhill run will take you down the same path as past Olympic champions however rather than negotiating tight technical gates at high speeds you are more likely to be confronted with knee deep light powder snow. For extra powder head to Reisen Grat and head through the powder towards Kurobishi being careful not to go too far left as there is a dangerous drop over a cliff band. On the lower mountain turn left at the top of the Adam Gondola and head towards the Champion trail making your way down to Hakuba Kokusai for good steep runs. Ski and Board SchoolEvergreen Outdoors offer Half Day,Full Day and Private Lessons for all levels with professional English speaking instructors. There is a halfpipe and a decented sized terrain park at Happo One. The terrain park has a good array of different-sized kickers, and there are also several rails including a large 40-foot rail. The halfpipe is long at nearly 100 metres and it's height is somewhere between a standard pipe (12-feet) and a super-pipe (16-feet), and it is maintained regularly - so enjoy! On Mountain DiningUsagidaira - A full service cafeteria,McDonalds & ice cream parlour.Located at the top of the gondola.Cafeteria Kurobishi - Located at the base of Kurobishi Virgin Cafe & Pilar Restaurant - Located at the top of the Alpen Quad Chair. Snow Plaza Sakka - At the base of Sakka, cafeteria style. These are just a few of the on-mountain dining options. I would recommend carrying some cash when you are on mountain as not all restaurants take credit cards. AwardsAs the site of the 1998 Winter Olympic Games, I think this speaks for itself. |
