Here beginners will enjoy an easy, convenient introduction to the sport. Once you have mastered the basics, move over to Reds new beginner and intermediate terrain which spans over 100 acres and is easily accessible by the new Silverlode chair.The Paradise Basin is the ideal location for intermediate skiers and riders. The majority of groomed runs are blue with a few black diamonds. Also offered are a variety of wide-open glades for those skiers looking for a challenge. The Paradise Terrain is the perfect place for individuals who want to improve their skills while having a great time in the gorgeous surroundings of the Kootenays. If you are an advanced/expert skier or snowboarder who enjoys challenging terrain, then Red is the resort for you. For truly expert skiing and riding visit the Grey Basin; just remember that the terrain there is extreme so always ski with a buddy. Ski and Board SchoolRed offers a wide variety of programs to suit all ages, abilities, budgets and schedules. For the little ones, sign them up for Kinderski, offering one hour of childcare, a two hour ski lesson and aprs-ski hot chocolate for children 3 " 5 years old. Individual instruction is the best way to improve your technique, and Private Lessons are also on offer, as are Group Lessons where you can learn to ski and enjoy the camaraderie of a group setting. The Ski / Snowboard Discovery Program offers rental equipment, a beginner lift ticket and a two hour lesson. Other programs include Avalanche Courses, 3-day camps, 8-week programs, powder clinics, backcountry guiding and more. Take your pick! Attractions and ActivitiesBack-country touring, cross-country skiing (25 kilometres of trails), CAT and HELI skiing, snowmobiling, the list goes on. If youre in the mood for something a bit more cultural, visit during the last weekend in January for the Rossland Winter Festival. This three day event features activities beginning with a parade downtown, a fireworks show, and the skiers' Torchlight Parade down Red Mountain. For daytime activities, the Winter Carnival has creative races with bobsleds, snowmobiles, GTs, skis, snowshoes, mountain bikes, golf clubs, and running shoes. Visitors to the carnival may also participate in a wine tasting festival, curling, pie eating contests, ice hockey, kids' scavenger hunt, a teen dance, and more. ShoppingHead into Rossland for all sorts of shops/dining/spas, you name it. The retail therapy ranges from jewellery, to art galleries and equipment shops. And for a boost in mind/body therapy, be sure to visit the DandiLion Wellness Centre & Spa. The perfect treat after a cold day on the mountain. DiningRossland township serves as Red Mountains Village, and youll want to head to town for a wide variety of great dining choices. There are half a dozen fantastic cafes, and twice as many restaurants to suit whatever youre in the mood for, from pizza and tapas, to Mexican and Chinese. Stop by Rossland Coffee & Tea Company for something to warm you up, and later on in the evening check out Gabriella's Apres Ski Restaurant for fine Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. NightlifeThe nightlife in Rossland is legendary¦ fast and furious in fact! Choose from one of three hotspots to ring the night in and relive the days powder stories. Be sure to stop in at Nowhere Special Social Lounge, a hip, funky live music lounge with fantastic food. If only three spots seems slim to you, its meant to.
