Nakiska

"...we had some great skiing at Nakiska in dreamy conditions where the snow was so dry that it squeeked. We had the place to ourselves and braved a tropical minus 20ish dressed like polar bears. - Fiona visited Nakiska in January 2008."

Fiona Stevens - Snowvision CEO

Resort

Specifically designed to host the alpine events of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, Nakiska is Alberta's youngest Rocky Mountain ski resort. Just a 45 minute drive west of Calgary in Kananaskis Provincial Park, Nakiska was created using the latest computer technology produced by Ecosign of Whistler -- the same company also designed the long wide fall-line runs of Blackcomb.

Primarily an intermediate skier's mountain, Nakiska's layout is simple and user friendly. The expert terrain is primarily at the top, with the Intermediate runs in the middle, and the lower areas for beginners.

To fully ensure a successful Olympic Games and reliable snow conditions for years to come, Nakiska was equipped with one of the most expensive and sophisticated snow making systems in the world. The result is that skiers can depend on quality snow coverage from mountain top to valley bottom from December until mid-April.

At the end of your ski day, pamper yourself at one of the hotels in Kananaskis Village, only five minutes away from Nakiska. Soak tired muscles in the Jacuzzi, curl up next to the fireplace with a book, or indulge in fabulous food!
