Kimberley Alpine Resort Village InfoOn The MountainThe Owl Learning Centre, located at the base of the North Star Express Chairlift in the Village, has a 180 foot long Magic Carpet servicing a wide and very gentle slope. It is the perfect place for Beginners to learn to turn and stop before getting enough confidence to catch the North Star Express Chairlift to the top. Once at the top the Main Trail, leading directly under the chairlift, is wide and long; just make sure you take the Easy Way Trail branching off to the right when you get close to the Village to avoid the steeper bottom section. Intermediates can happily access the entire mountain with 42% of the mountain suited for intermediate skiing and snowboarding. Long corduroy groomed, wide cruising trails lead down from the North Star Express Chairlift, the Rose and Boundary trails especially good for fast linked GS turns. Trials 47, 48 and 49 in the Easter Bowl area are long, fast, tree lined groomers, excellent in the morning for first tracks. Advanced/Experts will find the double black diamond treed terrain to the far left of the Tamarack Chairlift, has some of the best tree skiing and snowboarding in the region, featuring tight tree sections, great for fast slalom turns. The Tamarack Chairlift also services steep mogul covered runs like Rush and Bunker Hill. The Easter Bowl area has steeper tree skiing and snowboarding on the top right hand side of the Easter Chairlift and tight narrow steep chutes and mogul covered runs. Ski and Board SchoolThe ski or snowboard lessons at Kimberley are offered through their fully certified CSIA and CASI staff. The school provides a variety of programs to improve snowboarding or skiing skills for all ages and abilities. To name just a few: Discover Skiing & Snowboarding, a great way to experience skiing or snowboarding for the first time. It includes everything you need: Beginner Area Lift ticket, group beginner lesson and regular equipment rental. Kimberley Kruisers (ages 6 " 12), includes 3 hours of instruction and 1hr supervised lunch. CSIA Level 1 " Ski Instructor Certification -Refine your technical skills and become a certified Ski Instructor. This program runs over 4 days. The VillageIn the Kimberly Alpine Village the Sports Alpine Ski and Sports Boutique have the latest ski and snowboard equipment, clothing and on mountain accessories. The Slopeside Coffee and Deli store has food supplies and takeaway coffees. Attractions and ActivitiesActivities at Kimberley include snowmobiling, dog sledding, scenic helicopter tours, ice fishing, cross country skiing, ice skating and snow shoeing, movies, hockey, curling, skating and more! ShoppingIn the town of Kimberley there are ski and snowboard equipment and rental stores, gift and souvenir shops, clothing boutiques, homeware stores, galleries, and liquor and grocery stores. DiningIn the evenings there is a free shuttle bus operating between Kimberley Alpine Resort and the town of Kimberley giving guests the option to dine on or off the mountain. On the mountain, Kelseys Bar and Grill has a large international menu, extensive wine list and a family friendly atmosphere. In the town of Kimberley, the cuisine ranges from pub meals to Chinese, European, seafood, pizza and takeaway restaurants. NightlifeThe Stemwinder Bar has an outdoor heated seating area just right for aprs ski drinks, they have live music and outdoor BBQs on sunny afternoons. The main night spot is Kelseys Bar and Grill, where you should go for aprs ski drinks and stay for dinner then cocktails, dancing and more socialising! The main bulk of the nightlife is in the town of Kimberley; McBees Pub and BJs Creekside Pub are packed to the rafters every night with international visitors having a great time drinking, dancing and making new friends. |
