Kicking Horse

"Having spent some time at Kicking Horse it is clear to see why the experinced skier and boarder choose to head here. There is a definite lack of crowds, awesome terrain and an intimate feel to staying on the mountain. The resort reminds me of a smaller Jackson Hole with some great challenging runs. If your aim is to just ski and ride hard - Kicking Horse Mountain will keep you happy!!"

Sarah Headifen - Ski Traveller

Resort

Kicking Horse Resort use to be known as Whitetooth a locally run ski hill and a hidden jewel in British Columbia. Today it is owned by a Netherlands construction company Ballast Nedam International and is undergoing huge development which is making this a popular resort.

Situated amongst three mountain ranges the Purcell’s, Selkirk’s and Canadian Rockies allows for much drier snow and lots of heavy powder as opposed to some of its fellow neighboring BC resorts.

The resort has a 4,133ft vertical drop making for some great challenging terrain and is often the reason why hardcore skiers and boarders head to Kicking Horse. This does not mean you have to be an expert there is a variety of terrain to suit all levels - but the mountain is clearly aimed at the intermediate to advanced levels.

The closest town to the resort is Golden 15 minutes away and is an old logging town. With the investment that is being poured into the resort this will eventually turn into a thriving and bustling ski resort town. Already wonderful new lodges are appearing on mountain and we are lucky to offer a true Canadian experience at some of these wonderful on mountain lodges where you will meet real Canadians and friendly locals.

Super Bowl - the 4th Alpine Bowl opened in December 2010
Super Bowl provides a great new line up of epic terrain for guests to enjoy. The terrain in Super Bowl has previously been referred to as some of the "best high alpine terrain found anywhere‟. With over 15 new advanced and expert chutes, the entire bowl has an off-piste feel within a controlled inbounds environment. Super Bowl is situated south of the Golden Eagle Express Gondola and positioned within Kicking Horse Mountain Resort‟s original controlled recreational area. The bowl‟s terrain is made up of North, South and East facing slopes with a ski out that exists at the top of the existing Terminator run.
