The Village

Once an old mining coal town,today the town is full of interesting shops,galleries,cafes and restaurants lining the Main Street of Canmore and all of this is set in a stunning Alpine setting.



Attractions and Activities

Ice Skating and Toboganning - A local's area to head to is Quarry Lake which is on the road up towards the nordic centre.From the road the car park is easily visible with a trail that leads you down to the lake and surrounding hills for toboganning and loads of fun!!Skate rentals are available throughout the town or drop by"Gear Up Mountain Sport & Rental".

Cross Country Skiing - Head to the Canmore Nordic Centre where there is over 60kms of cross country and biathlon trails to explore.

Dog Sledding & Skijoring - Mad Dogs and Englishman offers dog sledding and skijoring a unique activity of being pulled by a team of dogs on your skis.Clinics are also available for skijoring and cross country skiing.

With Banff being only 15 minutes away Discover Banff Tours offers a multitude of activities from ice walks,heli skiing,ice hockey games,snowmobiling,helicopter sightseeing,cave tours and sleigh rides.

Shopping

Great shops and galleries full of interesting art and funky pieces created by local artisans are scattered throughout Canmore.For the sport enthused all the equipment you need to complete your adventure is likely to be found in Canmore.

Dining

The Trough comes highly recommended and it is easy to see why as it was voted the 7th Best New Restaurant in Canada by En Route magazine in 2007.The menu has a diverse selection of cuisine and an extensive wine list.Zonas Late Night Bistro set in an old remodelled mining house offers a selection of dishes from around the world in a charming cosy setting.As the restaurant is quite small reservations are highly recommended.
Pub style restaurants such as The Miners Lamp,The Drake and The Rose & Crown offer a good selection of traditional pub fare.


Nightlife

Hooligans (nightclub) and The Drake Inn seem to be the most lively spots to head to.The Drake Inn often has live entertainment in a relaxed casual atmosphere.The Rose & Crown also offers some live entertainment and pool tables to enjoy a quiet pint or two.The nightlife scene in Canmore is very casual and low key.
