WHISTLER, BC, February 26, 2009 – Skiers and riders have enjoyed consecutive powder days all this week as a heavy storm bombarded Whistler Blackcomb with the best snowfall of the season in what has been described as the resort’s very own stimulus package. The mountains have been blanketed with 82 centimetres (32 inches) of snow in four days – a season record!

The much anticipated PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola will open on December 12 and will once again propel the resort into the record books. The world-record breaking gondola is the first lift of its kind in North America and is destined to become Canada’s newest tourism icon, forever revolutionizing the year-round guest experience at Whistler Blackcomb.The gondola links the two side-by-side mountains in 11 minutes at the alpine level will create infinite opportunities for guests to make the most of their day on the slopes and experience amazing views of Garibaldi Provincial Park.WhistlerBlackcomb Tourism

The snow has started to fly at Whistler Blackcomb with over 40 cm (16 inches) of snow has fallen this week and more is expected in the forecast. With the countdown on to opening day, November 27, this is exciting news in the resort.
