Hi Sarah,Finally back to normal but have our marvellous photos to remind us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lionshead although we were doubtful if we were going to get a chance to ski as on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, it did nothing but snow, however, the afternoon arrived with its brilliant sunshine and off we went.
The accommodation was very adequate and being right in the middle of the “town” was just what we wanted. - We are now convinced Helmet and Goggle wearers as was just about everyone else on the USA slopes. We hired Helmets while in Vail and brought our own when we returned to New Zealand. The exchange rate was pretty high and what cost around $NZ100 for a Helmet here was double that in the USA.
Overall, a great trip, good accommodation, excellent snow and we wish Vail wasn’t so far away. Oh yes, the altitude didn’t cause us a problem but we didn’t push the quick walking etc, everything relaxed.
Thanks Sarah for all your help, pleased your Japan trip went well and who knows, we may see you again especially if we win LOTTO, as we have promised the whole family we will take them to Vail and travel Business Class on whatever airline it is we fly.
Regards Sue & Ken.

Hi Lianne,We’re all (Alice, Dave and myself) having a fantastic time over here in Brekenridge. First of all thank you to you and Sarah for all of the great advice that you were able to provide for us with the planning of the trip. The skiing has been fantastic, and now there is more new snow forecast. We all skied together yesterday across 3 of the peaks at Brekenridge, including heading up the Imperial Express which you get off at the elevation of 3,914m above sea level!! Some amazing runs down from here, as well as heading into the Brekenridge back bowls to ski the steeps and let our edges glide us down the slopes.
Our plan now is to head to A-basin tomorrow on the free bus that is provided from Brekenridge township. We are going to be joined by a few of the new friends we have made at the Fireside Inn. It has proved to be a fantastic place with intersting memorabilia of relevance and irrelevnace plastering the walls in the shared areas and themed rooms to stay in.
All in all the Colorado experience has proved to be everything we had hoped that it would be and more. We are all now looking forward to the fresh snowfall and long powder runs on slopes left empty after new years.

….also wanted to add, I am lucky enough to be staying at Tivoli Lodge tonight, I have heard nothing but good things about this hotel. I booked an extra night in Vail after the Mountain Travel Symposium just so I could stay at Tivoli Lodge and experience it for myself…..the location is one of the best in Vail, on Hanson Ranch Road, in the Golden Peak area of the village. Nice and quiet, but still just 2 minutes walk to the centre of Vail Village. Oh and I have heard the breakfast is very goooooood, I will report back on that tomorrow.

…it is snowing snowing snowing….I have just been watching CBS News/Weather and there is a ‘winter’ storm warning for tonight. It is Wednesday the 9th of April at 8:15pm now in Vail and tonight is my last night…..I can not believe this is the last week the mountain will be open, there is just so much snow and the conditions are fantastic. Tomorrow will be even better, I am hoping to get in a few hours before my shuttle arrives.
Sarah and I have been in Vail attending the Mountain Travel Symposium this week and we are so excited as we have some GREAT new products to add to the Ski Traveller website!! Including Alaska -we are both looking forward to talking to you about this amazing destination, with a great resort Alyeska - with Heli & Cat skiing right from the resort.
Sarah has a new ‘love’….as some of you know she has spent the last 15 winters in Canada and the USA working in Ski Resorts….during this trip she got to experience Mammoth, in California, she LOVES this resort & can’t wait to share this with you.
