Hi Lianne,
Just back from Canada and have read your Blog. We to went to Revelstoke and agree with the comments from “The Goat”. What I would say though is that Revelstoke is all about the skiing. I suspect there are a few more years of development but don’t let that put you off, the skiing is fantastic… Think of Treble Cones big, big brother.
This is the second year we have been and on both occasions we have had fresh snow, powder, steeps and trees. It is not for beginners but if you are a strong intermediate or above you will have the time of your life. Stay in Revelstoke if you can, it is about 15 minutes from the mountain but a fantastic unspoiled town. Good selection of accommodation, restaurants and a great old fashioned movie theatre.
We finished our trip in Sun Peaks, a wonderful place for a laid back holiday. This is a great resort with varied terrain and caters for all levels. You can ski some steeps, bumps then cruise the blues to get your legs back. There are three mountains and the connection between them is not bad although some skating and a short walk across a road is required depending which way you go, small things not worth worrying about. What is really great is the ski in / ski out combined with a lovely village. Everything is in easy walking distance and all tastes and budgets are covered for both accommodation and food. A little plug for Sub-Culture in the village. Best place for a lite meal and drink.
If you want to go hard, scare yourself once or twice and have some great stories, definitely go to Revelstoke. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with good skiing Sun Peaks will deliver.
