A serious amount of snow blanketed the Rocky Mountains this past week - 13 inches have been reported in Vail, 11 inches in Breckenridge, 8 inches in Beaver Creek and almost 2 feet recorded on Keystone’s North Peak Mountain. Heavenly Mountain was scheduled to begin making snow on Nov 1, but with the early season powder showing up on our front door, they fired up those bad boy snow guns as of Tuesday. The Snow Gods are shining on us this season, we can feel it!

“After a record setting start to the season and continuing storms rolling through, Telluride boasts some of the best conditions in ski country,” said Dave Riley, chief operating officer at the Telluride Ski Resort, “and with our new Revelation Bowl and incredible ‘inbounds backcountry’ terrain, Telluride is truly unmatched in North America.”

Dear Lianne,
I wanted to let you know that Copper Mountain opened a week early on November 7th for the 2008-09 season. We are currently having a very snowy week with 9 inches (22.86 cm) of new snow in the last two days and a winter storm warning has been issued for the rest of the week.
I got out and made my first turns for the season yesterday and here is a photo from my office looking down Main Vein into the Village.
Regards,
Roger Markel - Copper Mountain

An autumn snow storm made its way across Colorado yesterday, dropping up to 16 inches in some areas. This snowstorm, plus early season snowfall, propels Colorado into its second month of the 2008-09 ski season with two resorts open already: Loveland & Arapahoe Basin and more opening this weekend.
Copper Mountain will open for the season on Friday with fresh snow from yesterday’s storm. In the southwestern part of the state, Telluride is reporting 16 inches of fresh snow and nearby Silverton is reporting 17 inches. Both resorts are slated to open in mid-November.
Aspen Highlands received 18 inches, Snowmass received 12 inches, Aspen Mountain 10 inches and Buttermilk 6 inches. Snowmass and Aspen are scheduled to open in the latter part of November and Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk in the early part of December.

An overnight storm has dropped twenty four inches of snow at mid-mountain in Telluride, with more than three feet in the new Revelation Bowl, and it’s still snowing hard. The town is abuzz with excitement as conversations focus around favorite runs and epic days, and especially on the new terrain and improvements at the ski resort.
With the finishing touches recently completed in Revelation Bowl and the new lift ready for operation, the fresh snow is a great start for the season to come. Opening day is just three weeks away, and anticipation is at its height with Revelation now added to Black Iron Bowl and Palmyra Peak, opened mid-season last year. “This storm has added a solid layer to the snowmaking already underway,” said CEO Dave Riley, “We’re looking forward to a great year, with new terrain, restaurants, howitzers, snowcats, hotels and air service to continue improving the guest experience in Telluride.”
