Cardrona, NZ

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Hm. My favorite ski holiday would have to be when me and my cuz and a mate went up to Cardrona ski resort in central Otago for a week in 2007. We had sweet snow and fresh powder most days. I don’t know exactly why it stands out against all the others but I just remember it being heaps of fun. We had a heap of silly songs that we sung on the chair lift which was pretty cool(for us anyway, the other people on the chair might not have thought that). That’s about it really.

Breckenridge, USA

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Last year, my husband and I, had a fantastic ski holiday at Breckenridge in Colorado.   We’ve had three ski holidays in Canada and USA and for us ‘Brecks’ is the perfect North American Ski resort; the snow condition is magical, a variety of runs and terrain to suit all levels and some of the best on ski facilities I’ve come across.  To top it all off the Village has a great range of restaurants, two well stocked supermarkets if you are self-catering and accommodation options to suit all budgets.  We had a condo on the Snowflake Run and this was the perfect spot!

Mammoth, USA

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Hi Guys, By far the best ski holiday we have had!!  This was our honeymoon but shared it with several of our ski buddies.  We flew to SFO then drove to Tahoe where we skiied Squaw Valley, North Star, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood and June Mountain. Then we drove down to Mammoth which was the best of all being “ski in ski out”. Absolutely fantastic!!  Will do it again when finances allow.

Cheers

Mt Washington, Canada

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

My favourite place was Mt Washington on Vancouver Island.  We were there beginning of April 2008 and the snow was fantastic.  There was 50cm fresh powder the second day, we could step right out of the  door of the condo and onto our skis.  It is lovely place with lots of trees, plenty of places where they have made easy tree runs, there is a fantastic 360degree view from the top and you can see all the way to the US.  All very low key, no queues, and perfect place for families and night skiing. Mt Washington regularly has one of the biggest snowfalls in Nth America/Canada.  They were supposed to be having their yearly “slush cup” the next week and we were skiing in knee deep fresh snow and not a single rock of piece of ice to be seen.  Rather cold at -13 but with all the accommodation right at the bottom of the lifts you can easily go inside for lunch to warm up.  Loved it!

Sun Valley - Idaho

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Hi Lianne,
Back from Sun Valley today. Had a great time. Smaller field than Snowmass/Aspen but still heaps of runs and good conditions. On field facilities absolutely fantastic (5 star). Skiied 7 days out of 8, 5 in absolutely pristine conditions. Lift elevation 3200 feet so some big long runs. Mostly blue/black by NZ standards. Limited skiing in trees. Fresh snow on 3 days/nights. Didn’t manage to ski all the slopes. Some big bump runs that I also avoided. Very picturesque countryside. Good fly fishing. Hailey a modest/plain little village. Ketchum more upmarket. Lots of tv stars and big homes. Overall as good as (if not better than Aspen/Snowmass). Got you a few ski trail maps etc.
Cheers

Aspen Snowmass gets another 40cms!

LOCATION: Snowmass PHOTO: Jeremy SwansonLOCATION: Snowmass PHOTO: Jeremy SwansonGreetings from Aspen/Snowmass,

In typical Colorado style, a storm has dropped 16 inches (40 cm) of new snow and now the sun is back out!  Yesterday was another amazing day on the four mountains of Aspen/Snowmass with tons of fresh snow for everyone.  There is still a lot of time left in the season and with the incredible deals and specials we have in the resort, there has never been a better time to come to Aspen/Snowmass.  Below are some shots of the abundant powder from yesterday.

Panorama, Lake Louise, Sunshine, Banff Norquay

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Hi Lianne, it was absolutely fabulous! wouldnt change a thing. Panorama was unbelieveable, when we arrived it was snowing and all the fairy lights lit up the place. 10 sec walk to the ski lift. Banff great, fox hotel excellent. (altho no fridge or microwave!) Skiied mostly at Lake Louise, so many runs, so many lifts, so many gondolas - where to start! so, thankyou so much. Flights all good, altho our original flight out of here was delayed 5 hrs, so we literally ran thru Vancouver airport to catch the domestic flight. Skis turned up on another flight! all well tho. Ski passes, shuttles etc all excellent. thankyou, well done, Donna
