Turoa Salomon Lindauer Ladies Ski Weeks

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Dear Ladies,
Welcome to the 2009 season.  Turoa Snow School once again is holding 3 Salomon Lindauer Ladies weeks.
Week 1                        August 3- 6 with 7th being the contingency day
Week 2                        August 17- 20 with 21st being the contingency day
Week 3                        August 31- September 3rd with 4th being the contingency day

We have taken on board the feedback received from participants last season & have made a few improvements.
·         Every week ladies will have the opportunity to ski thru a race course with specific high end drills for those ladies wanting to really improve their skills.
·         If there is enough interest each week there will be a specific high end group which will spend more time within a gate environment.
·         We will aim to limit each group to 6 -7  ladies, however if the best fit for example of 14 ladies, ability wise, was to have a group of 6 and a group of 8 it makes more sense to do this.
·         On receipt of your registration from an email will be sent out saying we have received your form & processed your payment with an information letter sent out no later than the Wednesday prior to the start of the programme.
Continuing the success
·         Product night at Snowcentre with more dedicated Ladies information
·         Cyprus Tree on the Tuesday Night for dinner
·         Being a safe & socially responsible Snow School we will be offering Lindauer bubbles on Monday night during the product night, Tuesday at the dinner with a drink after skiing on Wednesday & Thursday.

You will find the registration forms on www.mtruapehu.com under Programmes & events.
Michelle Simpson is the programme co-ordinator.

Treble Cone is open

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Hi Guys Thought you would all like to see some pictures from opening day on Saturday at Treble Cone.  We were pleasantly surprised at how good the coverage was and mostly skied off trail and did a couple of tours out of bounds which was great to get some blood pumping thru the legs.  We had good intensions of having a cruisey day as I was breaking in new boots but ended up going a bit crazy. We’ve also been living in an inversion down here in town for the last week so we all enjoyed getting up into the blue sky.   Hope all of you are managing to enjoy the ski season as well and look forward to catching up for some turns if any of you make it down our way. Gleni & Blair

Mt Hutt auctions lift passes for $1

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Sunny skies, bubbles and smiles all round were the hallmarks of the opening of the ski season at Mt Hutt today (Saturday, May 30).  More than 2000 Cantabrians and visitors to the region turned out to welcome the snow and celebrate skiing in May at Mt Hutt.  The high country ski area opening was two weeks ahead of schedule as a result of early snow coverage.

Ski Area Manager Dave Wilson says it was the first time the mountain had opened in May for more than a decade.  “We have a one metre snow base which is phenomenal for this time of year.  Getting the mountain open early has been a huge challenge for staff but we had a great day today making it well worth the effort.

Check out Mt Hutt’s auction, lift passes for the rest of the season starting at $1.

BlackonWhite Ski Camps

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Let me tell you if you have never been on one…. You have definitely missed out. This year Antoine will be doing the camps with us for the first time so the ladies will be very happy…all that french charm!

The camps are great for everybody really from a social point o view, very tiring after all that hard work on the mountains some of the campers manage to have margarithas before 5.30 just to get a light relief from all the pain we have caused during the day…

Actually I have really enjoyed the camps because fun loving people get together who are passionate about skiing and who love to improve, push themselves a bit and most of all love to have fun in the mountains and on the dance floor… Both being crucial in being a good camper…

We try to teach everybody skills to improve their own style , give them tips about the right equipment and boot set up, technical advice of course and a lot of it is learning how to manage certain situations and how to manage oneself in those tricky, difficult situations. Some of the campers get out of their comfort zone and learn how to deal with the situation and others realise that they are actually capable of doing a lot more than they thought . After 4 days of hard work and fun I can honestly say that everybody goes home happy and feeling like they have accomplished something….and for Fiona and myself. We are happy to go to the pillow show early the last day.

JOIN us this year at Cornet Peak or Treble Cone
