Mammoth, USA

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Hi Guys, By far the best ski holiday we have had!!  This was our honeymoon but shared it with several of our ski buddies.  We flew to SFO then drove to Tahoe where we skiied Squaw Valley, North Star, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood and June Mountain. Then we drove down to Mammoth which was the best of all being “ski in ski out”. Absolutely fantastic!!  Will do it again when finances allow.

Cheers

Mt Washington, Canada

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

My favourite place was Mt Washington on Vancouver Island.  We were there beginning of April 2008 and the snow was fantastic.  There was 50cm fresh powder the second day, we could step right out of the  door of the condo and onto our skis.  It is lovely place with lots of trees, plenty of places where they have made easy tree runs, there is a fantastic 360degree view from the top and you can see all the way to the US.  All very low key, no queues, and perfect place for families and night skiing. Mt Washington regularly has one of the biggest snowfalls in Nth America/Canada.  They were supposed to be having their yearly “slush cup” the next week and we were skiing in knee deep fresh snow and not a single rock of piece of ice to be seen.  Rather cold at -13 but with all the accommodation right at the bottom of the lifts you can easily go inside for lunch to warm up.  Loved it!

Switzerland

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Hi,

My best ski holiday has to be our most recent overseas skiing trip.  My husband and I had a belated honeymoon trip to Switzerland in January 09.   We flew into Geneva and caught the train to Grindelwald, near Interlaken.  The ski area has 4 different resorts - Grindelwald, Mannlichen, Wengen and Murren - which were all accessed via the amazingly efficient swiss trains and ski lifts and one super ski pass.   The first night we arrived, 0.5m of fresh snow fell and in true Europe style stayed really nice all week - it probably helped that it never got any warmer than -10degs all week !!!   The beauty of this area is skiing under the north face of the Eiger.  Best moments of the trip include; apres ski down run 22 from First, catching the train from Kleine Scheidegg up to the top of the Yungfrau and standing at the top of Europe, skiing the world cup downhill course at Wengen and enjoying the varied terrain at Mannlichen.

Colorado Freeride at Snowmass

LOCATION: Hanging Valley Headwall PHOTO: Jeremy SwansonGreetings from Aspen/Snowmass,

It was another snow and sun filled weekend in Aspen/Snowmass!  We had the Colorado Freeride Competition on our very own Snowmass this weekend.  The competition brings in the best freeskiers and boarders from all over the world to drop huge cliffs and show their skills in skiing technical powder lines.  The results were some huge lines, big drops, and some great spills.  The two-day competition combines two venues, the Hanging Valley Headwall and the Burnside Cliffs, both on Snowmass.  The snow was deep and fluffy and allowed the athletes to push their limits!  If you have clients that are looking for the steep and deep, we definitely have tons here in Aspen/Snowmass.  Here is a great shot of one of the amazing athletes.

Thanks,

Chace Dillon
