With the arrival of warmer temperatures, more sun and light later into the day - they are all thinking about the great days of spring skiing ahead. And, the snow hasn’t stopped falling yet, so you’ll get the best of both worlds. Goggle tans and t-shirt skiing, here we come!

Panorama has something to keep everyone smiling through the final sunny days of the 2011 season. For the 2nd year, they are hosting the ever popular 24th Annual Easy Rider Cup, April 2nd-3rd. This fun event is open to ALL snowboarders of any ability! The main event is a banked slalom that takes riders through a terrain course. The best part is that it doesn’t matter how well you place because all prizes will be drawn! The CA$25 registration fee includes participation in all of the scheduled events.

Winter Park Resort received another 10 inches (25.4 centimetres) of snow in the past 2 days.  That brings them to 293 inches so far this season and they’ve still got a month to go!  Sunny skies and more snow on the way for this weekend!  Spring is here!  Winter Park Resort is open through April 24 so make sure you get out there for some great snow, sun filled days and fun events.

Ski in, ski out Kookaburra Lodge at Sun Peaks have  released an early bird special for the 2011 / 12 ski season.  Stay 7 nights and pay for 5 nights in all accommodation types.  All Kookaburra suites feature full kitchen, washer/dryer, electric fireplace and free underground parking.  The two and three bedroom suites have private hot tub.  Must book by 15 August 2011, conditions apply.

Copper Mountain has announced that this summer they will begin construction on a new chairlift, replacing the High Point fixed grip double chair located at the base of Union Creek, which has served Copper faithfully since 1976.

The new lift will provide improved service to all levels of skiing and riding ability. The lift, manufactured by Doppelmayr USA, will have a new alignment to help improve skier and rider circulation in and out of Union Creek. In conjunction with the new lift, the addition of a new trail connection from the east will make the circulation from the Catalyst Terrain Park and the tremendous beginner and intermediate terrain in the area, much easier.

The new lift will have a capacity of 2,400 people per hour, a length of 4,937 feet, with a vertical rise of 1,005 feet. The ride time will be 5 minutes, a fraction of the current lift ride from Union Creek to mid-mountain now. Copper Mountain would like to recognize the US Forest Service, and specifically the White River National Forest team, for being a great partner throughout this entire process.

The Canyons, Utah’s largest ski and snowboard resort, has extended its 2010/11 ski season by a full week to 17 April 2011. Talk to us about a late season Snow Melter deal at The Canyons.

It’s February 14th but if you don’t have a special somebody to share the day with, not to worry.  Mother Nature dropped off a little Valentine’s love of her own, smothering us all with big fat snowflake kisses.  Similar to “Chocolate Kisses”, Snowflake Kisses are the primary diet for powder hungry skiers and snowboarders.  So when you’re trying to decide what to do this Valentine’s, make sure you take some time out of your day for the other love of your life……SNOW!

Whistler Blackcomb have received 36cm in the past 24 hours with 55cm in 48 hours and over 110cm this week.  Add all this up and we are now sitting at over 930cm of snowfall this season, only 100cm from our total yearly average. It doesn’t end there however, with over another 30cm expected in the next couple days it looks like there are plenty of good times still to come.

Just back from a snow break!  It has snowed 15cm in the last 12 hours and it’s still snowing!!  Panorama has had a great season so far with some great powder days.

This year when the sun goes down the lights will come up on the Showoff run for Night-Skiing. You can hop on the Mile 1 high-speed chairlift to ski 1,200 vertical feet and enjoy a mile-long night skiing area. Night skiers can perfect their technique ready for the next day or just have fun with friends cruising down into the heart of the village.
