Snowflake Kisses at Whistler
Tuesday, February 15th, 2011It’s February 14th but if you don’t have a special somebody to share the day with, not to worry. Mother Nature dropped off a little Valentine’s love of her own, smothering us all with big fat snowflake kisses. Similar to “Chocolate Kisses”, Snowflake Kisses are the primary diet for powder hungry skiers and snowboarders. So when you’re trying to decide what to do this Valentine’s, make sure you take some time out of your day for the other love of your life……SNOW!
Whistler Blackcomb have received 36cm in the past 24 hours with 55cm in 48 hours and over 110cm this week. Add all this up and we are now sitting at over 930cm of snowfall this season, only 100cm from our total yearly average. It doesn’t end there however, with over another 30cm expected in the next couple days it looks like there are plenty of good times still to come.

Snow storm hits Panorama
Monday, January 24th, 2011Just back from a snow break! It has snowed 15cm in the last 12 hours and it’s still snowing!! Panorama has had a great season so far with some great powder days.
This year when the sun goes down the lights will come up on the Showoff run for Night-Skiing. You can hop on the Mile 1 high-speed chairlift to ski 1,200 vertical feet and enjoy a mile-long night skiing area. Night skiers can perfect their technique ready for the next day or just have fun with friends cruising down into the heart of the village.
Big White Wins Best for North America on an Epic Snow Day!!
Tuesday, January 18th, 2011Big White Wins Best Access out of all North American Resorts! Silver Star comes in 2nd. Silver Star was also second for Best for Families.
Few ski resorts can rival Big White for its ski convenience – virtually all the hotels and apartments in this modern, purpose-built resort are ski-in, ski-out, with the main lifts starting below village level and even the Main Street being dubbed a ski run by the resort. The terrain suits intermediates best, and the fact that it gets a lot of snow and has a lot of trees for shelter means that it is a good place to learn to ski powder. There’s also a great area called Happy Valley with other activities such as ice skating, snowmobiling, tubing and snowshoeing, served by a gondola that works till late. ![]()
Eating out at Whistler
Tuesday, January 4th, 2011New this year are Euro Snack kiosks located on both mountains, serving Liege Waffles and European hot dogs served in crusty baguettes. In addition, the newly re-opened Raven’s Nest Restaurant will feature fresh Artisan sandwiches and a great selection of soups and salads. Other new menu items to look forward to at Whistler Blackcomb’s existing restaurants include: Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine at Rendezvous Lodge; New Artisan sandwiches, salads, soups and stews at the Rendezvous and Roundhouse Lodges; a Latin American inspired menu at Merlin’s Bar at the base of Blackcomb; hot carved-to-order sandwiches at the Horstman Hut; and new paninis and made-to-order salads at Pika’s.
Great snow, great food - a winning combination.
