Aspen/Snowmass skiers and snowboarders gave thanks to the snow gods this morning waking up to over 8 inches of powder. Crowds gathered at the base while ski patrol controlled the heavy snow that fell over night and into the late morning. Yeah!

FIRST CLIENT OF THE SEASON HEADS TO TELLURIDE !!!

Friday, November 28th, 2008

It’s always great to hear right from the source our very own ”Ski Traveller” clients that are out in resorts experincing things first hand.

Ski Travellers first guest of the season is Dave who headed to Telluride in preparation for opening day the 27th November 2008.He has chosen to head to two fantastic areas in the US Telluride and will then be basing himself in Breckenridge Resort for 28 days!!. Dave will be emailing us from time to time so drop back by the Ski Traveller Blog to check on his adventures in Telluride and Breckenridge.

Here are some comments from Dave so far:
Just done 1st day skiing. Runs very limited but its fun anyway… Its snowing as I write this. Its bloody high up here.I had one night in Denver ( mile high city ) then to here about 8000,ft, skiing at 10000.ft.I coped with the jet lag .But an extra day at say Denver would have been a good idea for this old fella .Altitude sickness = all day headaches etc …..(I sort of knew  but thought i was bomb proof.).”

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Dear Lianne,In Val d’Isère, the snow report is very optimistic just 5 days before the season begins. Thanks to recent heavy snowfalls, Val d’Isère has 50 cm of snow in the resort and 2 metres at 3000 m offering excellent skiing conditions in the Espace Killy this week-end. Have a look at our webcams (http://www.valdisere.com/gb/pictoflash/webcam/webcam.php). The majority of the slopes will be open as of Saturday, November 29th. Val d’Isère is one of the first European resorts to open.

Hi Ski Traveller

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Thanks to Sarah for all the really helpful advise on Skiing Whistler. It is great when you speak to someone who has lived and skied there with first hand knowledge. That Amsterdam cafe was a real cool spot - after a hard day. Our accommodation was more than expected - only 3 mins away from the chair lift. Our friends who used another agency found themselves 20mins out of the main base area. Look forward to our trip again this season.

Cheers

Kimberley & Family.

Or do the trip in reverse….stay in Denver, catch the Ski Train at 7:15am and you will arrive at Winter Park at 9:30am in time to ski that day.
